Panhandle lodging

This campground was in a very quiet, country Texas prairie setting. There were a lot of horses in the area. The road into the park was, what I would call, a residential area. And yet the speed limit was 55mph! We saw two dead deer on the side of the road during our five days there. After doing a little driving around the area, that speed limit didn't surprise me because the 2-lane country highways had a speed limit of 75mph!

We were in site #9 at the end of a row. When I have a choice, I always try to reserve a site at an end of the row so we get an open view instead of having to see campers on each side. For this place, it gave us a large grassy area, even though the grass was brown and dead. But of course somebody didn't pick up after their dog - and based on the droppings, it appeared to be a big dog.

The campground had a kiosk check-in which worked very well. The laundry room was large and clean and utilized the CSCPayMobile app. This is only the second time I've run into that and I love it!  If you aren't familiar with it, it's an app from which you can pay for your washers/dryers, you can see how many washers/dryers are available at the moment and it gives you a timer to let you know when your clothes are done.  No more searching for quarters and wondering when the washer/dryer will be done with this technology!

While we stayed here, we visited the Palo Duro Canyon (The Grand Canyon of Texas), Cadillac Ranch, Bar Z Winery, and the Big Texan Steak Ranch. You can find out more about that in my blog.
