December 19 - Jan 1, Site A5
This park is very quiet and very well maintained. We see guys working all the time out in the yard, keeping things clean and tidy. The sites are a little snug and our view is of a shed but it's a very nicely maintained shed! Everything's painted in bright beach colors. Laundry area is tight but clean, and they have good machines. $2.50 to wash, $2.00 to dry. The beach is only a block away and it’s just a one mile walk on the beach to the Port A Beach Lodge bar. They have daily food specials, we had good breakfasts there, along with mimosas, and we heard the pizza was awesome, but we weren’t impressed with that.
There's a small airport just across the main road from the campground. Small planes fly close overhead, but not in an irritating way. It's a very relaxing area, not a whole lot of things to go see or do this time of year. But there is plenty of beach to walk and vehicles can be driven on the beach.
We enjoy exploring small town bars because we never know what we're going to find. Here we found the Belt Sander races, minnow races and a black-eye pea off at our favorite pirate themed bar, The Gaff. This place has fantastic pizza and was even kind enough to put the Vikings game on one of their few TV's for us!
