January 2022 - There were absolutely no campgrounds available in or near Lake Havasu, so we found a boondocking site north of town at Lone Tree BLM. There are actually many boondocking areas around there but from the ones I saw, I liked the view from this one the best. We got to look at the Crab Crawl Rock out our back door. To me, it looks like a glove. There were several trails leading out of the area, and most were washboards. On our first day out, we saw a herd of long-horned sheep on the back side of the Crab Crawl Rock. The trail continued where at one point we were at the end of the Lake Havasu airport runway. Three fighter jets zoomed over the top of us – twice!
We went here to see the hot air balloon festival. It ran Thurs-Sun, with balloons scheduled to go up twice a day. They went up early Thursday morning, which we didn't attend, and then they never went again due to high winds. I was so disappointed.
