These sites have a lot of space between them, however there is a walkway for others to access the beach. During our stay, not many people used it. We parked the opposite way of the norm so that we basically had "buddy" sites. That put our hookups on the same side as our doors but that wasn't an issue. What was an issue were the ants and sand burrs coming into the camper!
We spent an afternoon visiting the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center and Sea Turtle Inc. where we learned a lot about alligators and sea turtles. I highly recommend taking some time to visit these places.
I'm not much of an Elon Musk fan but visiting the SpaceX launch site was pretty cool! It's 5 miles from the campground, as the crow flies, but 40 miles to get there by road. And the road is rough. Very rough.The day after we saw it up close, we watched the rocket launch!
